SAN SALVADOR, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- A 6.3 magnitude earthquake shook El Salvador on Sunday with no casualties reported though the temblor was also felt in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, Salvadoran authorities confirmed.
According to El Salvador's Environment and Natural Resources Ministry, the earthquake hit at 11:08 local time (1708 GMT) with the epicenter located off the coast of La Paz, southwest of Playa Costa del Sol, and at a depth of 33 km.
El Salvador is a Central American country with high seismic activity due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire. ■
