SANAA, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Central Command on Friday said its forces destroyed four Houthi boats and two drone aircraft in the Red Sea during the past 24 hours.

"There were no injuries or damage reported by U.S., coalition, or merchant vessels," it said in a statement on social media platform X.

Yemen's Houthi group has not commented yet.

This development comes after the Greek-owned cargo ship Tutor, attacked on June 12, sank in the Red Sea on Tuesday, according to Houthi-run al-Masirah TV.

The Houthis claim their attacks target Israel-linked ships in solidarity with Palestinians. In response, a U.S.-British naval coalition has conducted airstrikes and missile strikes against Houthi targets since January, aiming to deter further attacks. However, these actions have led to an expansion of Houthi attacks, now including U.S. and British commercial vessels and naval ships.
