LISBON, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The 10th edition of the Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Show (SAHE) started on Friday at the Alfandega do Porto exhibition center, as surging fuel prices accelerate the shift toward electrified mobility in Portugal.
Show director Jose Oliveira said the timing of this year's edition is decisive for the sector. "At a time of energy crisis, the electric car has stopped being a promise for the future and has become an answer for the present," he said.
Visitors can have test drives on the latest hybrid and electric models and obtain information on charging, range and running costs. Brands including Changan, Dongfeng, DS, KGM, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Skoda and Volvo are presenting new models.
Chinese automaker Geely, which recently entered the Portuguese market with three electrified models and 15 dealerships, made its debut at the show with the E5 All-Electric SUV, the plug-in hybrid Starray EM-i SUV and the E2.
The three-day show runs till Sunday. ■
