WARSAW, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Polish President Karol Nawrocki on Thursday signed into law an amendment aimed at curbing irregularities in employment contracts, though the legislation will undergo a post-enactment review by the Constitutional Tribunal.

The amendment to the Act on the National Labor Inspectorate (PIP) grants labor inspectors the authority to reclassify certain civil law and business-to-business (B2B) contracts as employment contracts if they exhibit the characteristics of an employer-employee relationship. Final decisions, however, remain subject to judicial review.

The reform is one of the key milestones tied to the disbursement of funds under Poland's National Recovery Plan (KPO), part of the European Union's (EU) post-pandemic recovery framework supporting economic recovery as well as green and digital transitions.

The plan, financed through grants and loans, is conditional on meeting specific reform targets, including measures to address irregularities in employment contracts.
