RIGA, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- A submarine fiber optic cable of the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre in the Baltic Sea was damaged early on Sunday morning, according to Latvian public broadcaster LSM.
The centre's data transmission monitoring system recorded disruptions in data transmission services on the Ventspils-Gotland section, LSM reported.
There is reason to believe that the cable is significantly damaged and that the damage is caused by external influences, it said.
Currently, a delay in data transmission speed is possible, but it does not affect end users in Latvia, the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre said. ■
