VLADIVOSTOK, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- An An-24 passenger plane overran the runway during takeoff in Russia's Khabarovsk Territory, but all 23 people on board were unharmed, TASS news agency reported on Saturday.

According to local emergency services, the aircraft was departing from the settlement of Nelkan when it failed to lift off during acceleration.

"The crew initiated an emergency braking maneuver, causing the plane to overrun the runway by 30 meters. There were three crew members and 20 passengers on board. No injuries have been reported," TASS quoted a local official as saying.

Nelkan is located about 1,800 km north of the city of Khabarovsk.

Authorities confirmed that no fire occurred as a result of the incident. Investigations are currently underway to assess potential damage to the aircraft. "The cause of the incident is being determined, with technical malfunction among the possible explanations," emergency services said.
