BAKU, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Transit freight traffic through Azerbaijan has grown more than 2.5 times between 2019 and 2024, Shahmar Movsumov, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, was quoted by Report news agency as saying on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Customs-Business Forum in Baku, Movsumov attributed the increase to Azerbaijan's strengthened role as an international transport corridor.
"Improved efficiency in cargo transportation from China to Europe via the Middle Corridor has reduced transit times to just 8 to 10 days," Movsumov said. "These achievements are the result of consistent efforts to implement electronic services, enabling operations that once took days to now be completed in hours."
Movsumov emphasized that the constructive cooperation between the private sector and government institutions is key to further progress.
"We have created more favorable conditions for local and foreign investors by simplifying customs procedures, introducing electronic services, and removing bureaucratic barriers," he noted. ■
