ZAGREB, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Croatia will hold a presidential election on Dec. 29, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said in a statement on Tuesday.
Croatian citizens living abroad will also have the chance to vote, as polling stations will be set up in some 50 countries worldwide, compared to 47 in the last election, the statement said.
So far, 12 candidates, including incumbent President Zoran Milanovic and independent candidate Dragan Primorac backed by the ruling Croatian Democratic Union, are running for the five-year presidency.
Croatia's president is elected using a majority voting system. If no candidate wins an outright majority on Dec. 29, the top two candidates will face a runoff two weeks later. ■
