LJUBLJANA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Consumer prices index in Slovenia remained unchanged in October compared to the same period last year, leading the country's annual inflation rate, measured by consumer prices index, to drop to zero, according to data released by the Statistical Office on Wednesday.

On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.5 percent in October, following a period of no change in September. "The monthly deflation was mainly driven by lower prices for electricity and package holidays," the Statistical Office noted.

In a separate report, the office said that Slovenia's unemployment rate in September rose slightly to 3.4 percent from 3.3 percent in August, although it remained lower than the 3.7 percent recorded in September 2023.

However, the inflation and jobless rates are expected to rise over the coming months due to planned wage increases in public sector set to take effect in January 2025, coupled with recent announcements of job cuts by major companies.
