WARSAW, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- World No 1. Iga Swiatek, who missed tournaments in Seoul and Beijing due to personal reasons, will play at the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open, the manager of the tennis player confirmed in an interview with Polish media on Tuesday.

In early September, the 23-year-old lost in the quarterfinals of the US Open to Jessica Pegula 6-2, 6-4. Then she withdrew from the tournaments in Seoul and Beijing.

"For personal reasons, I have to withdraw from the China Open in Beijing. I'm very sad because I had a great time there and won last year. I couldn't wait to go back there. The fans will be able to see great tennis there. I regret I won't be part of it," Swiatek wrote in a statement quoted by the WTA on Friday.

"The next tournament for which Iga has registered is the competition in Wuhan. No decisions have been made yet regarding Swiatek's participation in the Billie Jean King Cup tournament in Malaga, Spain," Paula Wolecka, Swiatek's PR and Communications manager, told the Polish media on Tuesday.

The tournament in Wuhan will be held from October 7 to 13 at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center.
