BRUSSELS, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were injured in a shooting on a popular shopping street in central Brussels Wednesday evening, according to local police.
One of the victims is in critical condition, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.
The police said that there is no evidence suggesting a terrorist act, and the perpetrators of the shooting are currently on the run.
However, European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson warned on Tuesday that the European Union is facing a "huge risk" of terrorist attacks over the upcoming holiday season due to the Israel-Hamas conflict and the polarization it causes in European society. ■
