MANILA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine House of Representatives on Monday resumed deliberations on the 2027 National Expenditure Program, which proposes a budget of 7.2 trillion pesos (116.6 billion U.S. dollars).
Spending plans of other departments, including the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Justice, and Department of Science and Technology, are being reviewed simultaneously.
House leaders have set a 53-day timeline to approve the General Appropriations Bill by October.
The hearings were suspended last week due to heavy monsoon rains and flooding. The proposed budget would undergo strict scrutiny, according to House Speaker Faustino Dy III. ■
