MANILA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Students in San Antonio, a town in Zambales province north of Manila in the Philippines, were sent home on Monday morning after the mayor received a warning about an alleged plan to carry out a mass shooting.
Mayor Arvin Antipolo suspended classes at all 20 schools, alerted police and set up a command post, according to local media reports.
A self-described whistleblower sent the warning, saying unidentified individuals planned to attack schools. "This is no joke. Many people could be at risk," he said.
Authorities are investigating the credibility of the threat and have yet to identify any suspects. Security measures remain in place. ■
