BISHKEK, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- The musical and choreographic performance "Manas" was staged recently at the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic in Bishkek. Artists from the Song and Dance Ensemble of Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region presented the performance in front of more than 1,000 spectators from both countries.
Speaking at the event on Friday, Kyrgyz State Secretary Arslan Koichiev said that culture is one of the strongest bridges connecting people and that such cultural events greatly contribute to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. Koichiev expressed hope that the epic "Manas" would further strengthen this friendship.
Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping described epic "Manas" as a shared cultural treasure of China and Kyrgyzstan, an important means of humanitarian exchanges and a vivid reflection of the friendship between the people of the two countries. She added that the epic resonates deeply with people from different countries and ethnic backgrounds.
The event featured magnificent music, captivating singing and graceful dancing, with the artists' remarkable performance drawing rounds of thunderous applause and cheers from the audience.
"A truly sublime performance!" said local spectator Gulmira Umetalieva, who was particularly impressed by the dancers' beautiful choreography, superb artistry and colorful ethnic costumes. She said she looked forward to seeing more such events in Kyrgyzstan in the future. ■
