ISLAMABAD, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Four police personnel were among 11 injured in an explosion targeting a patrol vehicle in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday, police said.

Spokesperson of the district police Qudratullah Khan told Xinhua that the incident occurred on the busy Bannu-Dera Ismail Khan Road near a fruit and vegetable market in Serai Naurang town of the Lakki Marwat district.

Police, security forces and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured, including four children, to a nearby hospital. The medics said that two of the injured were in critical condition.

The police vehicle they were patrolling in was also damaged in the blast, said the official, adding that the explosion also damaged nearby shops and parked vehicles.

According to the official, an improvised explosive device was planted on a motorcycle, and it was detonated with a remote-controlled device.
