HANOI, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- The total cargo volume through Vietnam's port system reached approximately 864.4 million tons in 2024, up 14 percent year-on-year, Vietnam News Agency cited the Vietnam Maritime Administration on Wednesday.
Port enterprises reported substantial profits thanks to the significant growth of the domestic maritime sector, said the report.
Hai Phong port in the northern region reported a cargo throughput of nearly 40 million tons in 2024, with net revenue from sales and services reaching nearly 2.6 trillion Vietnamese dong (103.2 million U.S. dollars), a 20.35 percent increase from 2023.
Meanwhile, Da Nang port JSC in the central region announced revenue exceeding 1.4 trillion dong (55.6 million dollars) in 2024, up 17.5 percent over 2023.
The port reported a 15 percent increase in cargo throughput and a 13 percent rise in container volume compared to the previous year. ■
