BISHKEK, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The measles situation in Kyrgyzstan remains acute, the official Kabar news agency reported on Thursday, citing the country's health ministry.
The capital city of Bishkek reported the highest increase in cases, where the virus is actively spreading among contacts, the ministry said.
According to data from the health ministry, 1,104 cases have been recorded from the beginning of this year to date in the country.
A total of 7,046 cases of measles were registered in the country by the end of 2023, and 14,380 cases in 2024, the ministry added.
Unvaccinated children are at risk of contracting the infectious disease, the ministry said. ■
