ISLAMABAD, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and four others injured in a fatal collision between a car and a passenger coach in Jamshoro district of Pakistan's southern Sindh province on Wednesday morning, said a rescue official.

The official from Rescue 1122 said that the accident occurred when the speeding car crashed into the passenger coach on the Indus Highway in the district.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to a hospital in Jamshoro city.

The medics feared that the death toll might further rise as two of the injured were in critical condition. All the deceased and critically injured were traveling in the car, said the rescue official.

Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Road accidents in Pakistan are an alarming issue, with a significant increase in both frequency and severity over the years. Reckless driving, poor road conditions, and a lack of proper vehicle maintenance are among the main reasons for the high accident rate.
