ISLAMABAD, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Twenty seven terrorists were killed in a military operation in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, the military said on Monday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement that personnel of security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Kacchi district of the province.
"During the conduct of operation, own troops stealthily surrounded and effectively engaged the terrorists' location, and after an intense fire exchange, 27 terrorists were killed," the ISPR statement said.
Multiple hideouts, including caches of arms, ammunition and explosives, were also destroyed during the operation, it added.
The killed terrorists were involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as innocent civilians, and were highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies.
The military said that the security forces of Pakistan remained determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan. ■
