KABUL, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have implemented 13 projects in six provinces to preserve the rich historical sites and cultural facilities in the war-torn country, Khubaib Ghufran, spokesperson for the Ministry of Information and Culture, said Saturday.
"The Ministry of Information and Culture has undertaken 13 projects for the preservation and restoration of historical monuments in six provinces, including Kabul, Ghor, Herat, Kandahar, Bamyan, and Ghazni in the year 1403 of the solar calendar," local media Tolonews quoted Ghufran as saying.
Over the past two years, international visitors primarily traveled to Herat, Bamyan, Kandahar, Nuristan, and Ghazni provinces.
The nation's economy benefits from foreign visitors, prompting authorities to enhance the services and amenities available to them.
According to the Ministry of Information and Culture, over 8,000 foreign tourists have visited Afghanistan to explore its historic sites over the past two years. ■
