ISLAMABAD, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- The weekly inflation of Pakistan measured by the Sensitive Price Index has increased by 3.97 percent on a year-on-year basis, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Saturday.
During the week ending on Jan. 2, the major commodities that witnessed an increase included tomatoes, ladies' shoes, sugar, firewood, beef, powdered milk, and clothing, the PBS added.
During the same period, a major decrease was observed in the prices of wheat flour, onions, chili powder, eggs, and rice, the bureau added.
On a week-on-week basis, the inflation fell by 0.26 percent, the PBS noted. ■
