ISLAMABAD, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- The weekly inflation of Pakistan measured by the Sensitive Price Index has surged by 5.08 percent on a year-on-year basis, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Friday.
During the week ending on Dec. 26, the major commodities that witnessed an increase included tomatoes, shoes, potatoes, pulses, beef, firewood, and clothing, the PBS added.
During the same period, a major decrease was observed in the prices of wheat flour, onions, chili powder, eggs, and rice, the bureau added.
On a week-on-week basis, the inflation increased by 0.80 percent, the PBS noted. ■
