NEW DELHI, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- The death toll in a tanker fire incident last week in the western Indian state of Rajasthan rose to 19, officials said on Thursday.
According to health officials, many of the injured have succumbed to their burn injuries during treatment.
"Today one man succumbed to his injuries. Last evening three of the injured, including a severely burnt woman, succumbed to their injuries, taking the death toll in the tanker fire incident to 19," Superintendent at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital Dr. Sushil Bhati said.
At present, 11 people are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
On Dec. 20, a liquified petroleum gas tanker blasted and triggered a massive fire engulfing several vehicles on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway near Bhankrota in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. ■
