BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Haji Mohammad Rosli, officiated the launch of the first edition of the Community Caring Program at the Islamic Da'wah Center on Sunday, local media reported Monday.
According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin, the event aimed to assist underprivileged individuals and families, including asnaf converts, single mothers, and low-income households.
During the ceremony, essential necessities were presented to 48 individuals, donated by various companies in Brunei, the Borneo Bulletin said on Monday.
Brunei is a Southeast Asian country located on Borneo Island, with a population of approximately 340,000 citizens and a well-established social welfare system. ■
