SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's chili pepper production logged a double-digit growth so far this year, thanks to favorable weather conditions, statistical office data showed Friday.
Chili pepper output amounted to 68,074 tons in the period, up 10.4 percent compared with the same period of last year, according to Statistics Korea.
Improved weather conditions reduced damage from diseases and insects, leading to the expansion.
The cultivation area for chili peppers declined 2.6 percent from a year earlier to 26,430 hectares.
Sesame production added 0.3 percent to 9,002 tons, but highland potato output fell 0.2 percent to 126,399 tons. ■
