COLOMBO, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-five recruits have been hospitalized and around 500 others placed under quarantine following a fever outbreak at an army training school in northern Sri Lanka, the army said on Monday.
The army said in a statement that the Army Commando Regiment Special Warfare Training School was under quarantine.
The training of the recruits commenced on Nov. 11 and the first cases were detected a few days later, according to the army.
The army said the situation was under control, and necessary measures have been taken to prevent further spread of the disease. ■
