HANOI, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports are expected to hit a new record high of 7.5 billion U.S. dollars this year, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday, citing Dang Phuc Nguyen, general secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Southeast Asian country earned 6.34 billion dollars from exporting fruits and vegetables in the first 10 months of this year, up 31.5 percent year on year and exceeding last year's record of 3.5 billion dollars.
During the cited period, durian continued to be the biggest earner with an export value of over 3 billion dollars, accounting for nearly half of Vietnam's fruit and vegetable export revenue, said the association.
China remained Vietnam's biggest fruit and vegetable importer at 3.8 billion dollars in the first nine months of this year. ■
