NEW DELHI, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- One laborer was rescued while two others remained trapped under the debris of the concrete blocks that collapsed at the site of the ongoing bullet train project in India's western state of Gujarat on Tuesday, confirmed an official over the phone.
Rescue operations were in progress, utilizing cranes and excavators. While one of the laborers was rescued, efforts continued to save the lives of the remaining two, added the official.
The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is responsible for the project, also confirmed the incident.
The bullet train project connects the South Asian country's financial hub Mumbai with Ahmedabad city of Gujarat. The project began in 2017 and is expected to be operational by 2028. ■
