COLOMBO, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Secretary to the Sri Lankan President Nandika Sanath Kumanayake met with Xiong Hongfeng, managing director of CHEC Port City Colombo Limited, on Monday to discuss the progress of the development project.

In a press statement, the President's Media Division (PMD) said the two sides also focused on new strategies to address anticipated economic challenges. CHEC Port City Colombo announced a donation of 3 million rupees (10,224 U.S. dollars) to aid those affected by recent flooding, according to the PMD.

Colombo Port City is being developed as a service-oriented special economic zone on 269 hectares of land reclaimed from the ocean. International accounting firms estimated that the Port City could attract 15 billion U.S. dollars in investments, according to a Department of Government Information statement in July.
