NEW DELHI, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Indian army killed three militants in a fierce gunfight in Indian-controlled Kashmir, officials said Tuesday.

According to Indian defense officials, the militants were responsible for attacking their convoy in the Akhnoor sector on Monday.

Indian army has lost a service dog in the stand-off.

On Monday, militants ambushed an army convoy near the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector, about 265 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

The attack triggered retaliation from the army personnel, who immediately cordoned off the area with the help of reinforcements.

Last week two army troopers and two porters working with them were killed in a militant attack on their vehicle in Botapathri-Gulmarg of Baramulla district, about 57 km west of Srinagar.
