NEW DELHI, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Police in the northern Indian state of Haryana have arrested two dozen farmers for burning stubble in agricultural fields, officials said Thursday.
The farmers burned stubble (crop waste) to clear fields. However, the practice contributes to air pollution in the region, especially around Delhi, the national capital, ahead of winter. ■
