COLOMBO, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) announced on Monday that 67 people have been arrested in connection with bribery incidents over the past nine months.
In a progress report, CIABOC said that among those arrested were 20 police officers, including two police inspectors, one sub-inspector, eight constables and nine sergeants.
Additionally, 22 individuals were arrested for offering bribes to state officials, CIABOC said.
Official data showed that 57 individuals were arrested in 2023.
Among them, 16 were police officers charged with accepting bribes. ■
