KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia on Wednesday urged all parties in the Middle East to urgently de-escalate the heightening tensions.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the country urges all concerned parties to take immediate action to reduce hostilities and establish conditions necessary to prevent a broader regional conflict from erupting.

"We must urgently prevent a dangerous cycle of action and reaction, which threatens to draw even more parties into the conflict, further deepening instability and broadening the scale of destruction," he said in a statement.

Iranian forces announced missile strikes against Israel on Tuesday, with numerous ballistic missiles targeting air and radar bases and other facilities. Israel for its part has vowed to retaliate for the attacks.
