SEOUL, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's real wage, adjusted for inflation, rose for the fourth straight month owing to the still low inflation, labor ministry data showed Monday.
The per-capita nominal monthly average wage in businesses with one or more regular employees gained 7.4 percent over the year to 4,257,000 won (3,260 U.S. dollars) in July, according to the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The real monthly wage grew 4.8 percent in July on a yearly basis, continuing to increase since April.
The consumer price inflation added to 2.6 percent in July from 2.4 percent in June, but the July figure was still lower than 2.9 percent in April and 2.7 percent in May.
The monthly average working hours per employee in the businesses swelled 6.4 percent from a year earlier to 169.1 hours in July.
The mining industry recorded the longest monthly working hours of 187.4, followed by the water, sewage and waste disposal industry with 184.1 hours.
The construction industry logged the shortest working hours of 139.2 in the cited month. ■
