KABUL, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics police have discovered 1,317 kg of illicit drugs in east Afghanistan's Paktika province, the country's Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Monday.
The contraband was seized during a routine operation conducted by police in the province's Deela district. A person was arrested in connection with the case, the statement added.
Afghan police have arrested 48 people over drug trafficking and seized 18 kg of illicit drugs in the outskirts of capital Kabul and some provinces, the ministry said on Saturday.
The Afghan caretaker government has vowed to fight against illicit drugs, drug production and drug trafficking across the country. ■
