HANOI, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam attracted an estimated foreign direct investment (FDI) of 14.15 billion U.S. dollars from January to August, the highest eight-month amount in the past five years, the country's General Statistics Office said on Friday.
The processing and manufacturing industry took the lead with 11.28 billion dollars of FDI, accounting for 79.7 percent during the cited period, followed by real estate with 1.27 billion dollars.
As of Aug. 31, Vietnam's total foreign investment reached 20.52 billion dollars, up 7 percent year-on-year, said the office.
A total of 66 countries and territories have been granted new investment licenses in Vietnam in eight months.
Singaporean investors dominated the investment flow with 4.66 billion dollars. ■
