NEW DELHI, July 24 (Xinhua) -- One sailor of the Indian Navy (IN) onboard the warship "INS Brahmaputra" has been missing for the past three days, since a fire broke out rendering heavy damages to the multi-role frigate, an official said on Wednesday.

The warship was undergoing some repair/refit works at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai (ND-Mbi) when suddenly the fire broke out.

The fire was reportedly controlled after efforts by the Indian Navy personnel and the local fire-fighters.

Following the fire incident, "the ship experienced severe listing to one side (port side). Despite all efforts, the ship could not be brought to the upright position. The ship continued to list further alongside her berth and is presently resting on one side," said an official statement.

It added, "All personnel have been accounted for except one junior sailor, for whom the search is in progress. An inquiry has been ordered by the Indian Navy to investigate the matter."
