DHAKA, April 30 (Xinhua) -- International Dance Day was celebrated Saturday in Bangladesh to promote art and culture and raise awareness among the public regarding the art of dance.
Dance troupes and artists celebrated the day by participating in different programs held across the South Asian country.
The main program to mark the day, held at the National Theater Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka, the national fine and performing arts academy, featured a procession, a seminar, a discussion session, an awards ceremony and a dance show.
International Dance Day was initiated by the Dance Committee of the International Theater Institute in 1982. ■
