TALUQAN, Afghanistan, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Four people, all civilians, were injured as a blast rocked Taluqan city, capital of northern Takhar province on Wednesday, provincial police spokesman Abdul Mubin Safi said.
"It was a mine blast and injured four civilians," Safi told Xinhua.
Without providing more details, the official added that an investigation had been initiated into the incident.
Earlier, a local media outlet the Tolonews reported that the blast took place next to a private health center named Qataghan hospital, injuring three people.
The war-torn Afghanistan has been the scene of increasing security incidents including explosions recently as a blast on Monday killed the police chief of northern Badakhshan province and injured two others.
One day earlier a blast in Police District Six of Kabul city left no casualties but caused panic among locals. ■
