Pakistan condemns terror attack on mosque in W. Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan strongly condemned a terrorist attack on a mosque in Herat city, capital of Afghanistan's western Herat province, in which many innocent lives have been lost while many others were injured, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.

"The government and people of Pakistan extend deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to the bereaved families, and pray for the early recovery of those injured," the ministry said in a statement on Friday night.

"Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The people of Pakistan stand with their Afghan brothers and sisters in this time of sorrow and grief," the statement said.

A total of 18 persons including prominent cleric Mawlawi Mujib Rahman Ansari and his brother Habib Rahman Ansari were killed in a blast outside the Gazar Gah mosque in Herat city on Friday, provincial administration spokesman Mawlawi Hamidullah Matawakil told media.
