ISLAMABAD, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan reported 789 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said on Thursday.
The overall tally of the infected people climbed to 1,557,234 across the country with the fresh cases, according to data released by the ministry.
A total of 30,503 people died of COVID-19 in Pakistan, with four more deaths over the last 24 hours, according to the ministry's statistics.
On Wednesday, 21,741 tests were conducted throughout Pakistan, and the positivity rate stood at 3.63 percent.
There are 160 patients who are in critical condition in the country. ■
