WINDHOEK, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The 2024-25 Namibia Premiership season is set to begin on November 29, after a key sponsorship deal was extended.
A joint statement on Thursday revealed that this follows an extension of the sponsorship agreement between Debmarine Namibia and the Namibian Football Association (NFA).
Mining company Debmarine Namibia will contribute 18 million Namibia dollars (1 million U.S. dollars) as per the terms of the new agreement.
"We would like to thank the clubs and the football-loving public for their patience and understanding as we worked diligently to ensure a smooth and successful start of the 2024-2025 Debmarine Namibia Premiership," the company said.
The Namibia Premiership played its first season in 2022-23, following the collapse of the predecessor Namibia Premier League in 2020.
Meanwhile, the NFA thanked Debmarine for its commitment and requested that fans attend matches in big numbers. ■
