NAIROBI, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Two people were injured Thursday morning when a light aircraft crashed inside Nairobi National Park in Kenya's capital, the operator said.
The Cessna 152, registration 5Y-PSJ, operated by West Rift Aviation School, had two crew members on board, both of whom sustained injuries in the crash.
The operator said that the aircraft encountered difficulties while flying over the park, leading to the accident. "We are relieved to report that both individuals are safe and unharmed. The incident is under investigation, and further details will be provided as they become available," the operator said in a statement.
Accidents involving trainee pilots are not uncommon in the area. This crash occurred just three days after another light aircraft, belonging to Z Boskovic Air Charters, a private charter company, veered off the runway while attempting to take off at Migori Airstrip in western Kenya, with 11 passengers on board.
Aviation authorities are investigating both incidents. ■
