BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Student financial assistance was provided nearly 160 million times in China in 2025, up more than 5 percent from 2024, the Ministry of Education announced Tuesday.
Under the country's student aid programs, 18.77 million students in compulsory education from financially disadvantaged families received living allowances, while 27.58 million students benefited from the nutrition improvement program, a ministry official said at a press conference.
The total amount of student aid funds nationwide exceeded 390 billion yuan (about 57.4 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025, up more than 14 percent from the previous year.
Fiscal input totaled nearly 240 billion yuan, accounting for about 60 percent of the total, making government funding the primary source of student aid, according to the ministry. ■
