TOKYO, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Nikkei stock index jumping more than 2.5 percent on gains in artificial intelligence- and semiconductor-related shares.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 1,850.76 points, or 2.68 percent, from Wednesday to 71,025.73. The broader Topix index was up 40.14 points, or 1.01 percent, at 4,003.90. ■
