LIMA, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian President Jose Balcazar on Monday unveiled the country's 2026-2028 national plan for citizen security and the fight against crime, which aims to tackle rising organized crime and restore order in the South American country.

"This plan seeks to restore order, strengthen the principle of authority, and ensure that law prevails throughout the nation," the president said at the headquarters of the Interior Ministry during the presentation of the new plan.

Balcazar said his administration was committed to ensuring peace and security for citizens through a comprehensive approach to fight organized crime.

Fighting criminal organizations requires the participation of various state institutions, including the national police, the Interior Ministry, the judiciary, and public prosecutor's office, to respond in a coordinated manner to the dynamics of crime, the president said.

The plan may be adjusted as the situation evolves since crime fighting strategies must adapt to changes in illegal activities that impact public safety, he added.
