ISLAMABAD, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and another injured when two trucks carrying vegetables collided in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, rescue officials said on Saturday.
The accident took place early in the morning near the Grand Trunk (GT) Road in the Sohawa area of Jhelum district after a truck reportedly suffered a brake failure and crashed into another vehicle from behind.
"The second truck veered off the road and hit a tree, killing its driver and a helper on the spot, while another was injured," Saeed Ahmed, the Rescue 1122 in-charge in Jhelum, told Xinhua.
The bodies and the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, the official said, adding that the driver of the truck that caused the crash fled the scene. ■
