KABUL, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Heavy rains and flooding have caused huge property damage in parts of the eastern Afghanistan Parwan province on Sunday night, said a statement of the provincial government on Monday.
The rainstorms, which triggered floods, destroyed a 21 km long road linking Parwan to the central Bamiyan province, and smashed water canals, farmlands, gardens and several houses in Siagurd district, the statement added, noting the road linking Parwan to Bamiyan province has been closed due to flooding.
According to the statement, the flash floods have also inflicted property damage in the Koh-e-Safi district.
The meteorological department of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has predicted more rain in parts of Afghanistan for Monday. ■
