JERUSALEM, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Israeli EuroLeague club Maccabi Tel Aviv said on Thursday that it has signed center Nathan Mensah, who played last season in the NBA and this season with Olympiacos.

The 27-year-old Ghanaian played college basketball at San Diego State, where he ranked second in the university's history in both blocks and rebounds.

Although he was not selected in the 2023 NBA draft, he was signed by the Charlotte Hornets, where he played 25 games, averaging 1.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists.

In December 2024, Mensah joined Olympiacos following a serious injury to center Moses Wright, but played little for the Greek outfit that finished the EuroLeague regular season in first place.

On Wednesday, Maccabi also announced the return of Israeli-American forward Alex Tyus for a third stint with the club, signing him through the end of the current season.

Tyus, 37, won the EuroLeague title with Maccabi in 2014, and most recently played for Pallacanestro Varese in Italy's top division.

Maccabi did not make it into the EuroLeague playoffs this season, but this week secured first place in the regular season of the Israeli Super League.
