JAKARTA, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesia Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon) has reported a sharp rise in service users, reaching 111 entities as of April 17, 2025, up from 16 participants at its launch on Sept. 26, 2023.
"We aim to reach 150 IDXCarbon users, both domestic and international, by the end of 2025," said Jeffrey Hendrik, director of development at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, on Tuesday.
He said that international outreach efforts are ongoing, particularly targeting South Korea, seen as a high-potential market for carbon trading, and Japan, which has already signed a cooperation agreement with Indonesia.
Jeffrey said that IDXCarbon has outperformed carbon exchanges in Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam, drawing interest from foreign projects looking to trade carbon credits in Indonesia.
Since its inception, IDXCarbon has recorded a trading volume of 1,598,703 tCO₂e and a transaction value of 77.91 billion rupiah (approximately 4.6 million U.S. dollars) as of April 17. ■
